Preventative Care and Vaccinations

A complete physical examination is the first step to providing proper care for your companion. This allows the doctor to learn the individual characteristics of your dog cat or pocket pet and begin building his/her medical history. As your pet ages, preventative care expands to incorporate essential monitoring of organ function, heart function, blood pressure, and much more.

Throughout the life of your companion, CLVC will recommend essential individualized veterinary care based on breed, genetics, lifestyle, and environmental factors.

These recommendations include things such as:
• Proper vaccination needs based on lifestyle and exposure
• Protection against parasites such as mosquitoes, fleas, and ticks
• Home dental care
• Diet
• Senior health management when the time comes
• Proper disease management

Proper preventative care will minimize the risk of illness and improve the quality of life for your companion.

Acute & Chronic Illnesses

In the event your companion needs to stay in the hospital for any length of time, CLVC is equipped with the essential tools to provide the quality medicine he/she deserves to aid in a speedy recovery.  In addition, we have separate treatment & hospital wards for dog & cat patients.

Endoscopy

Endoscopy is the use of specialized video cameras to evaluate areas within the body in a minimally invasive manner. In most instances, endoscopy is performed for diagnostic purposes allowing visualization and sampling of abnormalities.

Surgical and Anesthetic Services

Surgery is an important part of both routine and advance health care needs. Routine anesthetic procedures are an essential part of preventative medicine including procedures such as spaying, neutering, laceration repair, growth removals, dental extractions and many more.

Advanced surgical needs can include internal surgery to repair hernias and to remove tumors, as well as orthopedic repair of broken bones.

To lower the risks of surgery and anesthesia, CLVC performs pre-surgical blood testing to evaluate a patient’s ability to handle anesthesia, utilizes the safest available anesthetic agents individualized to each patient, and benefits from the assistance of advanced vital signs monitors.
To add to our surgical capabilities, County Line now utilizes a Cutting Edge Surgical Laser. When appropriate, this tool allows your companion to benefit from:
  • Less Pain & Swelling: The laser seals the nerve endings as it moves through the tissue resulting in less post surgical pain & swelling.
  • Less Bleeding: Small blood vessels are sealed during surgery resulting in potentially quickly procedures.
  • Quicker Recovery: For the reason above, and many more, your companion may be able to return home too normal activities sooner.

Dental Services

Dental care is an essential part of proper medicine that involves daily home care, routine professional evaluations, and professional cleanings by a doctor when necessary. An infected mouth can lead to gingivitis, periodontal disease, and even organ failure if left untreated.

Dental care starts with puppies and kittens and includes brushing, the use of dental chews, water additives, and specialized diets. CLVC is equipped with the essential tools to provide your pet with a clean, healthy smile.

PennHip - The most accurate hip screening method available

AIS PennHIP testing is accurate in puppies as young as 16 weeks of age. It gives an estimate of the risk for painful osteoarthritis (OA) of canine hip dysplasia (CHD) later in life. With this information, preventive and palliative strategies can be recommended by the PennHIP-trained veterinarian.

All dogs can benefit from PennHIP testing. For pet dogs found to be at risk to develop hip OA, early intervention can help prevent or lessen the severity of CHD. For working/service dogs, identifying a dog with healthy hips can extend the working life of the dog. For breeding dogs, early detection of at-risk hips can allow the breeder to make early, informed decisions as to which dogs to keep in breeding programs.

Embark Veterinary Genetic Testing

Senior Services

Most dogs and cats become seniors at the magical age of 7 (as a general rule.)  Just like humans, as our companions age, their bodies become less efficient and they become candidates for many age related diseases such as diabetes, kidney disease, heart disease, cancer, hypothyroidism, and hyperthyroidism. Routine checkups, regular blood screenings, and minor lifestyle changes, such as diet, can minimize the onset of disease and allow the opportunity for treatment and management due to early detection.

Click below to see a  senior pet to human age comparison that shows more accurately when a dog or cat becomes senior based on weight:

As our companions enter the “Golden Years”, subtle differences in behavior or patterns can be indicative of age related conditions. Please complete the senior pet history sheet prior to your senior care appointment to help the Doctor determine if any area in particular may need attention, or if minor adjustments to lifestyle may be recommended:  Senior Pet History Form

End Of Life

The hardest day any of us can face as pet owners is the day we must say goodbye to our beloved companion. We respect and understand how difficult this process is and want to support you through the process from assuring you in your decision making to providing access to grief counseling afterwards.

At County Line Veterinary Clinic we recognize the unbreakable love and bond between you and your beloved pet. We would like to offer a place on our memorial fence for your pet to be remembered in this way. You are welcome to place a lock on the fence with your pet’s name and years of life on our fence to memorialize him/her. We will supply a standard lock with tag and your pet’s name and dates or you are welcome to bring your own.

When a loved one dies we are faced with legal forms, bills, and decisions that must be made. With our human family members this is usually done after we have lost them and are still in the shock of that grief. Unfortunately in veterinary medicine we have legal documents that must be signed at the time of euthanasia that may result in some after care decisions based on law. If body care has not already been decided we can hold the patient for a period of time to give you a chance to decide that. Payment can be made over the phone if scheduling in advance or prior to the procedure.

We offer cremation through Fond Memories. You may learn more about them and some of the products here https://www.fondmemoriespcc.com.  Some people choose to take their pets home for burial. Please check with city codes if you choose this option. We have a memorial fence in front of the clinic that we welcome you to use to memorialize your pet. Love locks are a tradition throughout Europe. Couples attach a padlock engraved with their initials to a fence or gate and throw away the key to symbolize their unbreakable love.
